Today I decided to blog already before the new site is online. So I will let you be part on some details of the work. In the last three days and up to now I created the design in Photoshop and transfered it into a XHTML-framework and an appropriate CSS-stylesheet. After a first browsercheck I have to admit that my design needed some dirty hacks, because I ran into the wellknown “height:100%”-trouble. Firefox was not able to render the background properly. I don’t know exactly why this happend but a little hack later it know works like it should. Thereby there comes the question to front: in which browser should I develop. Since I normally work on my Mac I develop with Safari and the WebDev additions or with Firefox and its WebDeveloperTools. For testing I normaly check also in Opera on Mac and Win, in IE 5/6, Firefox, Opera and Mozilla on Windows and in Firefox, Mozilla, Galeon and Konqueror on Linux. Sometimes I also take a look with CL-browsers like lynx and w3m. But I normally do not because it is enough frustrating checking in all these browsers and to see how different it is rendered by them. But that’s life. Back to work. I filled the main index page and the about page with content. Until now I designed a two column page, a three column page and a mixed one. For the missing content in work and linux I have to develop special page layouts. Yesterday I succeeded with matching blog and website design. The blog now looks at 90% how it should. Some minor things have to be adjusted and now I will do that…
